I actually had a really good experience at Taylor Dental, which I wasn’t expecting because I usually get nervous about dentist appointments. The office was super clean and everyone at the front desk was really nice! Kayla was seriously the best!! Kayla made me feel way less anxious. She kept checking to make sure I was okay and was just really sweet the whole time. You can tell she actually cares about her patients. Overall it was way better than I thought it would be. I’d definitely recommend Taylor Dental, especially if you’re nervous about going to the dentist!
My son appt was for 3pm and we made it there a lil after 3pm. I knew we had to wait because the kids coming after school. When we arrived, it was packed. TD did an damn good job getting all appts completed. They was done with my son about 5:15. TD helps my son become knowledgeable about his dental care. Now we have to schedule wisdom tooth removal!!!!
We have been using this location on and off for my son's primary dental care. I've now decided I will no longer be coming to this location after our last visit. We came in 10 minutes before our appointment and filled out the online paper work within 10 minutes. We than waited almost 45 minutes before being called to the back. My son went to the back where the xrayed him and sat him down in the chair for almost AN HOUR before starting his cleaning. We have now been there over 2 hours for what should be just a simple cleaning. My son finally finishes and tells me that half way through the cleaning the dentist literally said 'hey siri call mom' and proceeded to have a phone conversation while working on my son's teeth. This is COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE. I manage a store that works on phones and computers and I would never allow any of my techs to work while having personal conversation because of how distracting this can be. I definitely do not appreciate this happening to my son over medical work! Not only has this location assigned him unnecessary work by saying he had cavities that magically disappeared by next week, the last time we came for an Ortho appointment they seemingly forgot we were there. We were brought to back room and sat in there for almost an hour before a nurse walked in (semi suprised to see us) and the dentist/ortho quickly followed in an obvious rush. I will be moving all future appointments to another office.
I did not like the fact that I came in at 2:55 for a scheduled appointment at 3 PM for my two daughters just to have a cleaning. We sat there for an hour and 15 minutes, notice that kids that arrive 30 min after my kids and a little girl who had only been there 10 min where called to the back before my kids was called. I then got up and asked one of the ladies working at the front desk. What was the hold, she seem very unconcern and we were sitting long before any of those people. She then stated that it was because they my have filled the online in take form out when it was sent to them, even though I signed in way before them and completed my form way before they arrived, I then express I had some where to be, her reply was I can reschedule for tomorrow, as if I had more time to waste sitting in an appointment. Which I know for a fact was a complete lie. Once we arrive in the back at 4:24, they had two kids seated then my two kids and another little girl walked in and was seated as well. One person cleaned all five of these kids teeth in 30 minutes, no exaggerating, I watch the entire thing and time her. She was working on one of the kids cleaning when we sat down in back, she was finished all five of their cleaning before 5, no way it was done right for any of these children. They told me they didn't have any cavities I guess from the x-ray because the dentist hardly even checked inside their mouth, so it's safe to say it was Friday and my kids cleaning was rushed because it was time for them to get off, but I sat there two hours waiting to be seen I was in the back less than 30 minutes with two kids. They may have been our last visit there.
My children have been patients at this office since it was known as Kool Smiles, and at that time, our experiences were consistently positive. The environment was warm, welcoming, and family-oriented. We knew the staff and doctors by name, felt respected as parents, and trusted the care our children received. I truly miss the way this office operated when it was Kool Smiles. Since the transition to Taylor Dental Family, the quality of care and overall atmosphere have declined significantly. The sense of professionalism, compassion, and personal connection that once defined this practice is no longer present. We no longer recognize the staff, there is little effort to build relationships with families, and the welcoming environment that once existed is gone. On February 9, my daughter had an appointment scheduled for 1:00 PM. I signed in at 12:41 PM, yet she was not seen until after 3:00 PM. This excessive delay was unacceptable and showed a lack of respect for our time. More concerning was her experience during the removal of all four wisdom teeth. The bedside manner of both the oral surgeon and staff was extremely poor. There was little compassion, communication, or concern for her comfort and emotional well-being throughout the process. While I understand that prescriptions are often issued after procedures, the lack of planning in this case caused unnecessary suffering. When the anesthesia wore off, my daughter was in severe pain and did not have immediate access to her medication. When I attempted to fill her prescription the same day, I was informed that the pain medication would not be available until February 11. Thankfully, the pharmacist at Walgreens showed compassion and worked with us to ensure my daughter received her medication. Without that intervention, she would have been left in significant pain with no support. Additionally, I was informed that if any complications occurred, we would need to go to the emergency room because the oral surgeon is not based in New Orleans. This reflects poor continuity of care and raises serious concerns about patient safety. Overall, Taylor Dental Family has lost the professionalism, compassion, and patient-centered approach that once made Kool Smiles a trusted provider in our community. The decline in bedside manner, communication, and staff professionalism is disappointing and unacceptable. For these reasons, I am giving this office two stars. I sincerely hope management takes this feedback seriously and works to restore the quality of care that families once trusted.
