I recently had a consultation with Dr. Itani regarding a very difficult decision involving the extraction of a tooth in order to improve my teeth alignment and proceed with Invisalign treatment. Dr. Itani was exceptionally patient, professional, and thorough in answering all of my questions and concerns. What impressed me most was the care taken to coordinate directly with my dentist to ensure that every aspect of the treatment plan was carefully considered and that no issues would arise along the way. I would also like to recognize Beth Dail, the treatment coordinator, who was instrumental in arranging an earlier appointment to accommodate my time frame and availability. Her efficiency, kindness, and understanding were greatly appreciated. Based on this experience, I feel confident moving forward and trust that the treatment will lead to a tremendous improvement. I am very grateful for the professionalism, communication, and personalized care provided by the entire team.

If I could leave zero stars, I would. My experience with NoVA Orthodontics has left me deeply disappointed, both from a clinical and administrative standpoint. First, I enrolled in Invisalign treatment after being strongly encouraged to use their remote monitoring option, which was presented as a convenient alternative to traditional in-person follow-up appointments. What was not made sufficiently clear to me was that this model relied almost entirely on submitting photographs through an app, with little to no routine face-to-face evaluation by my treating orthodontist. Throughout treatment, the app repeatedly reported minor gingival irritation that appeared to resolve from week to week as I followed all instructions provided. However, at my annual dental cleaning, my dentist diagnosed me with moderate periodontitis requiring scaling and root planing and documented approximately 33% bone loss. Bone loss is permanent, and I will now need to manage this condition for the rest of my life. While I cannot say with certainty that Invisalign treatment caused my periodontal disease, I believe the remote monitoring model used in my case failed to identify or escalate significant periodontal concerns that warranted direct clinical evaluation. Patients considering remote orthodontic treatment should understand that photographs submitted through an app are not a substitute for comprehensive periodontal assessments performed in person. My second concern relates to billing, insurance, and patient communication. I was clinically advised that my treatment would last approximately nine months or less, and I completed treatment in roughly that timeframe with about ten trays. At the conclusion of treatment, I was informed that my case was complete and congratulated on finishing successfully. Based on that understanding, I changed insurance plans during open enrollment. Only afterward did I learn that NoVA Orthodontics had structured insurance billing around a 12-month treatment period and submitted a final claim after my previous insurance coverage had ended, resulting in approximately $700 in denied charges that they are now attempting to collect from me personally. At no point during my completion appointment was I informed that additional insurance claims remained outstanding or that I might incur further financial responsibility after being told treatment was finished. Compounding this frustration, NoVA Orthodontics appears to utilize a third-party, out-of-state billing and insurance administration service. As a patient, I was never able to speak directly with an in-house billing or insurance specialist at the practice. I was not provided a clear walkthrough of how insurance claims would be submitted, how treatment duration would affect billing, or what obligations might remain after treatment concluded. I have repeatedly contacted the practice seeking assistance in resolving the outstanding balance and have been told multiple times that the practice director would return my calls. To date, I have not received a callback. At the same time, the payment deadline has remained unchanged despite delays in communication originating from the practice, leaving me expected to satisfy a bill while still waiting for meaningful discussion or clarification regarding the charges. Patients deserve transparency regarding both their clinical care and financial obligations. In my experience, I did not receive either. I cannot recommend NoVA Orthodontics and would encourage prospective patients, particularly those considering remote Invisalign monitoring, to ask detailed questions about in-person oversight, periodontal monitoring, treatment timelines, insurance billing practices, and who will actually be available to answer billing questions should concerns arise.

I had a wonderful experience at my orthodontic appointment today. My orthodontic assistant Roxane was incredibly kind, patient, and professional throughout the entire visit. They explained each step of the process, made sure I was comfortable, and answered all of my questions with care. Their positive attitude and attention to detail made the appointment stress-free and enjoyable. It's clear they genuinely care about their patients and take pride in providing excellent care. I came in for a consultation today, and I had a great experience. Alex, my treatment coordinator, was very helpful and informative. Samantha took my records and was very nice. Dr. Robb explained my treatment thoroughly and answered all of my questions. Everyone was friendly and made me feel comfortable. I would definitely recommend this office!
