Let me start off by saying I’m 60yo and my fear of and knowledge of a dentist has kept me out of a dental chair for years. The ability to eat, smile or even talk comfortably had gotten so bad I had to attempt to go. I was referred to Renolda Smiles and it does not disappoint. I have never felt so comfortable. For once, I was important and not to just Dr Speers but the assistant too (Brittany) the personal care team is courteous and willing to take the time to assist you with any questions or concerns about billing or insurance. When I arrived I spent about 5 to 10 minutes in wait room (every time) my assistant was quick to call me back and start prep work Dr Speers did not keep me waiting although I was offered a blanket, yes I said blanket and water and a tablet and anything else to keep me comfortable. Dr Speers started to work he made sure I wasn’t in any pain and was informed about the procedure he was about to do. He spent plenty of time with me and wasn’t rushed to get to next patient. He’s very meticulous about his work and the outcome is worth the wait.I’ve never been at more ease and couldn’t wait for my next appointment. My assistant is as amazing as my dentist. She was professional, skillful and very informative. She cared about my comfort level more than I did (lol).she scheduled my next appointment before I left the room and made sure I was ok before I got out of chair. I never thought I’d find a dentist so down to earth so like me (not above me) so anyone needing dental care I strongly recommend Renolda Smiles and staff.
Went in for a Root Canal yesterday and was petrified due to previous experiences (ideal dental, USDA). Mt appointment was for 2 I got in at 2:05 was greeted with a happy smile and brought back to the room for the procedure. I was quickly offered a blanket and told if I needed anything to just let them know and that the dentist would be in shortly. While I was waiting I noticed they had a sign in the room that listed out the amenities they offered for the clients comfort. “Headphones, blanket, tablet with pandora, etc” I’ve never had a dental office offer things like that! Dr. Boyte came in not even 3-5 mins later and started explaining everything that would be done and asked if I had any questions. I had 1 and she answered it with a lot of info (I appreciate that). They start prepping me and the assistant told me she was going to put this jelly on my gums (I didn’t know at the time what it was, she told me but like I said I was petrified of the numbing needle part of procedure so I wasn’t like really listening) she puts the jelly on and to my surprise, it was numbing gel! I’ve never had any dentist put numbing jelly on before I got the numbing needle! We waited 10 minutes and it was pretty number to the touch so Dr.Boyte then walked me thru the needle numbing as she was doing it. I DIDN'T EVEN FEEL IT YALL! I told her right then how this was the best experience I’ve ever had with the numbing needle and continued to tell her how terrified I was of this part alone. She continued to make me feel comfortable and heard and making it a pleasant experience. The root canal was done in an hour or so (not her fault, I had a lot of infection in the tooth and it was giving her trouble draining it clean) and then she moved on to a filling I needed in the tooth next to the root canal. It’s end of year so my insurance is about up so she scheduled me first week of January to go back and get the crown so I could be covered on insurance! Again - I’ve never had a dental office care SO much about their patient! They spaced out my plan enough that my insurance can cover everything! I 100000% recommend Reynolda Smiles! Ask for Dr. Boyte, she is amazing and so sweet and really shows she cares for her patients! The ONLY trouble I had in the office was I needed to put a deposit down for my next appt (crown) at the checkout desk otw out and the lady told me I couldn’t use my HSA card for it and that I needed to pay the 200$ now or else I could call back when I had the money to get my crown. I didn’t understand that as I had previously paid the deposit for my root canal on my HSA card and had no problem. She told me it’s bc a crown is considered (don’t remember the correct term she used) but let’s say cosmetic. Which didn’t make sense again to me bc how can I get a root canal, have a whole live hole in my tooth, & then be denied a crown bc it’s cosmetic and not a health issue that is covered.. but i know it’s not the ladies fault she was just doing her job. The other lady had to come over and help and they ended up waiving the deposit due to the team in the back already scheduling me. She did inform me that if I missed my next appointment I would have to come out of pocket to pay it and that I can only waive a a deposit 1 time. Either way - enjoyable experience and I highly recommended taking your dental needs here!
Update: Much better experience during my next two visits. Alicia was awesome (super friendly, calming energy), as well as Dr. Geer. Both were attentive, made sure I understood what was going on and that I was comfortable. I can't remember the name of my new hygienist—maybe Olivia? —but she was great, too. Kept the small talk at a minimum, which I honestly appreciate when I'm having dental work/cleanings. I'll be back! Original review: This was my first visit here and first time seeing a dentist in a few years (I have anxiety about dental procedures and even routine cleanings). Maybe two stars isn't fair — if I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt, it could have been a really busy day during the holiday season, and my hygienist was brand new — even the coordinator I spoke with at the front desk was new. Learning curve and all that. But holy crap, I was here for over two hours and didn't even get my teeth cleaned. X-Rays took up a bulk of that time. Procedures had to be redone, notes were missing, lots of waiting around and the vibe was chaotic. Dr. Geer seems solid; he and the hygienist were both friendly and explained everything in detail. I'm due back for my cleaning/fillings in Feb (that's on me for putting this off) so I will hopefully edit this review to reflect a better experience.
I am disappointed with this dental office due to both its administrative policies and prior treatment. The practice enforces a $200 late cancellation fee if an appointment is not canceled within a 48-hour time frame, which feels excessive and allows little flexibility for unforeseen circumstances. Additionally, I have concerns regarding a bridge that was previously placed during treatment, as the outcome did not meet expectations. Moving forward, I will be canceling my future appointments for both my son and myself, and I will no longer be referring patients to this office. I encourage prospective patients to carefully review the office’s policies before scheduling care.
I recently made the switch to Reynolda Smiles because my dentist of 25 years retired. My first impression was a very clean facility and welcoming staff. My hygienist, Leslie, talked me through the process and made me feel very comfortable.
