Ashby Orthodontist has exceeded my expectations! Dr. Ashby is fantastic, and the staff is friendly and accommodating. My daughter Desaree is thrilled with her treatment, and I appreciate the flexibility they've shown with our scheduling needs. Virginia was especially helpful and understanding when I had to make changes to our appointment.

I recommend this practice to all friends and family. They are professional, knowledgeable, accommodating and friendly. We've been serviced by the Chesapeake and Va Beach offices and both have provided us with excellent service!

My overall experience with this office was very underwhelming. The environment never felt organized, and communication was inconsistent, which made visits more stressful than they needed to be. Concerns weren’t handled in a clear or professional way, and there was often a lack of follow-through. The level of professionalism just didn’t match what I expected. Based on what I personally experienced, I can’t confidently recommend this place .

To Whom It May Concern, I am writing to formally address a serious and urgent matter involving my daughter, Cheyenne Truitt, who was under your care as a patient for over a year. During that time, we encountered two minor scheduling-related issues, which were handled over the phone. However, during our most recent interaction, the office manager expressed dissatisfaction with my tone and, without prior warning or due process, informed me that Cheyenne would be dismissed from care. I want to be very clear: dismissing a minor patient in the middle of active orthodontic treatment, without proper transition support, is both unethical and potentially unlawful. According to standard medical and dental practice guidelines in the state of Virginia, a provider terminating care has the responsibility to: Continue providing care until the patient can reasonably transition to another provider; Facilitate a safe and timely transfer of care, particularly for ongoing or complex treatments like orthodontics. Your office has failed to meet these obligations. You have not returned multiple calls, and you are currently refusing to remove my daughter’s braces—an essential step that would allow her to transition to a new orthodontist. As you know, most orthodontic providers will not accept a patient mid-treatment, particularly when appliances installed by another practice remain in place. As a direct result of your office’s inaction, my daughter has gone without any orthodontic adjustments or professional oversight since February 27th. This extended gap in care poses risks to her dental health and could result in irreversible complications from unmonitored appliances. She is also experiencing stress and discomfort that could have easily been prevented had your office fulfilled its professional obligations. Furthermore, I must note that the conduct of Lynn Himler, the office manager, was not only unprofessional but also deeply inappropriate. Her refusal to return calls and her dismissive remark—“Good luck finding an orthodontist who accepts Medicaid”—was discriminatory and offensive. It is unacceptable to make such statements to any patient or their guardian, regardless of insurance status. This situation must be rectified immediately. I am formally requesting that your office take one of the following actions without further delay: Schedule an urgent appointment to remove Cheyenne’s braces, so she can continue her treatment elsewhere; or Provide a written referral and work directly with a new provider who is willing to assume care, including transferring all necessary records and coordinating the treatment plan.

I travel over an hour for my appointments. I have completely loved my Invisalign journey with Ashby orthodontics. Top notch customer service, always friendly and serving with a smiling face. Straightforward with progress and wants nothing but perfection for their clients. Best around town.
