Ashby Orthodontics: Ashby, John O DDS, MS

My sister, who is hearing impaired, was a former patient at Ashby Orthodontics. She still has braces that were placed by this office several years ago. When I called on her behalf to request help having them safely removed, a staff member named Virginia said that my sister was no longer a patient and told us not to call the office again. Virginia also stated that my sister “needs to take some ownership of this situation,” which felt very dismissive and hurtful, considering that my sister is hearing impaired and still has orthodontic work from this office. This experience was disappointing and concerning, especially since the braces were placed here and are now causing issues. I hope Ashby Orthodontics will handle patients with disabilities more compassionately and take greater responsibility for the care they’ve provided.

On round 3 (3rd and 4th grand kids) with this practice, I realized that the cashier at mc Donald's gives more personalized care and attention to details. Consult schedule to appeal insurance denial, waited 45 minutes past scheduled time, doc never spoke to me, ordered repeat X-rays done less that 30 days ago. office manager who is not medically trained diagnosed no problem?

When I started my treatment and lived in Virginia, everything was going great up until right before I moved out of the state. I brought up some concerns with my invisalign and how my teeth were moving significantly after having my trays off for only a few hours and they told me to just keep continuing my trays, even though I was more than happy with where my teeth were and I was ready for a permanent retainer and ready to have this process over with because it had already been almost a year and a half. It was just an unfortunate way to end our journey; they still have not checked up on me and it's been over 5 months since moving and i've had to spend hundreds and hundreds of dollars on additional scans, pictures, cleanings, and retainers from other places and pay for all of it out of pocket when i could of just had it all done with them before i moved instead of running around and finding places that'll take someone that already is established with a different ortho/dental place.

I came in for Invisalign as an adult after having braces and a retainer as a young teenager. Dr. Ashby was my orthodontist then. I wish I had kept wearing my retainer! But coming in years later I still received the best level of personable care as I did back then. The process was simple, the decorative atmosphere was pleasant and inviting and unlike a sterile dental practice, and I never felt rushed or pressured to make any decisions. Thanks Dr. Ashby and staff for a great experience so far!

The best orthodontic staff in Virginia. The staff at Ashby is a testament to the caring and dedication expressed from Dr. Ashby. I had a longer treatment plan and was never worried about my dental outcome. Over the years, the Ashby staff has come to be almost a second family. Thank you all so much for your dedication to the work. Y’all are the best!
