I don't usually leave reviews, but I had to leave a review for this place. I've gone to PITT Dental School before, but decided to go to the orthodontists department cause I desperately need braces. I was given a screening, and was told I'd get a call back for the next appointment in 1-2 weeks. I missed the one call I got 1 1/2 weeks later, so while I was in the building to see my usual dentist I went to the clinic to see what was happening with scheduling my next appointment. I was pulled into an administrator's office and told that I "just didn't qualify to be a patient." and when I asked why they said there was no reason, that it's a school and that some people "just don't get in." From scheduling my appointment to receiving this information I had wasted a whole month. Not only that, but I was NEVER told during my screening that there was a chance I'd just be turned away without a reason or else I wouldn't have bothered going there and would have found another place. The person I spoke to also had the audacity to tell me the screening had a "$30 charge", but they were going to refund me. Of course I'd want to be refunded, why would I pay for anything when I'm not even being seen? Luckily I found somewhere else to go, and the places I've spoken to since have said this was extremely unprofessional on their end. I have a feeling I know why they "just couldn't take me" due to the fact I have severe dental anxiety and just need extra time and patience. It seems like they didn't want to accomodate. Huge waste of time. I don't recommend this place to anyone. PITT Dental School is no longer what it used to be.
Do NOT go to the University of Pittsburgh School of Orthodontics for your treatment. They do not care for their patients. They only take your money and use you to train their students. You will get mediocre service and they will tell you lies to not refund you money you are CLEARLY OWED. Getting my treatment done there was a BIG MISTAKE. The amount of lies I was told by higher ups as well as the lady at front desk(I wont name names) was absolutely disgusting. DO NOT SPEND YOUR MONEY THERE.
We bring our kids here and I might also start using it! Very professional, and it helps students studying dentistry! My kids always come away happy, amd excited about what they've learned.
Very poor communication skills never picks the phone up !
