Hanger Clinic: Prosthetics & Orthotics

Horribly shitty experience. I was sent to the Hanger Clinic through the VA. I was clear in my communication that my knee brace would utilized for skiing. The technician took measurements and ordered me a brace that cannot be utilized for skiing. Typical of most professionals believing they know what's best, and typical of the VA handing off responsibility to substandard contractors. I'll now be purchasing a proper brace out of pocket. Your tax dollars wasted. No accountability.

Following an FU appt with my ortho surgeon regarding a 12 year old knee replacement hardware beginning to degrade, we decided to try a brace to add needed stability during hikes. gym training, and daily stressors. It was our hope to push out the need for another surgery as long as we can. I was referred to Hanger in Carson City and had the please of meeting with Rod Miller. From the onset, I felt his personal investment and enthusiasm to offer his expertise and talents to get me back to doing what I enjoy most and staying active. He took the needed measurements and fitted and customized the brace for me when it arrived. He offered proper instructions for its use, gave me sound suggestions for the “break in” period and availed himself for any future needs or questions. Immediately after my first few 2-3 mile walks, my usual swelling and pain was dramatically reduced. As I graduated to more intense or lengthy activities with deeper squat like or getting up off the ground, I began to notice a slight pinch / blister in softer / fatty tissue of by inside lower thigh. Not sure what might be considered “normal” for my activity or movements, I emailed him a photo with explanation. He immediately ordered compression sleeves and we were back in business and with a solution! Again, Mr Miller is not only highly competent in his craft,…. but also while being friendly, accommodating, accessible, and very responsive. As a side note, I’d mentioned traveling out of state for upcoming breast cancer care and he advised me of TSA practices to be aware of while wearing the brace. In addition, in an extraordinarily blessing and coincidence, Mr Miller shared that his wife works with post mastectomy Prothesis services and referred me to her. That FU meeting was also truly God sent with such timing to offer me some ease and insights in advance of my procedures. Thank you Mr Rod Miller for giving so much of yourself and gifts to not only me, but so many other clients / patients I know you and your have have blessed along the way as well. Second experience with Hanger and it is as positive as getting the right below knee prosthetic . First time experience did not know what to expect and questions to ask. They were professional, patient and very knowledgeable. Now having to get a left below knee prosthetic has been just the same but now I have new questions and their answers have given me more confidence to walk forward. Thanks John and Hanger clinic.

It’s so nice to have a facility that follows up and is helpful and caring. I got fitted for my hinged knee brace and told what the issue is exactly with my knee. I was shown how to put it on and not rushed at all. I felt like a valued patient
