Contemporary Dentistry - East Lansing

From the second I walked in the door to the second I left, I was treated with the utmost kindness from everyone! Shawna, my hygienist, was amazing - very kind and personable. She was incredibly thorough and communicative with all of her processes. The dentist was very very warm towards me and my hygienist as well (which is always a great sign). The woman at the front desk is always sweet, along with the woman at the end who checked me out. Hospitality meeting dentistry… love it!

The dentist, hygienists, and dental techs have all been great! I got cavities filled by Dr Ali Kurdi and have had no issues with them at all. He's very thorough and friendly! That being said, I've had multiple issues with scheduling and billing at this office. I was scheduled for a cleaning in Dec, however a few days before the appointment, they texted me to tell me they were cancelling the appointment because they had scheduled it with my Dr instead of with a hygenist. I don't understand why this happened and I wasn't able to get in again until February, so my cleaning was 2 months late. When I got my cavities filled in the fall, I was overcharged 3 times because they greatly underestimated the amount my insurance would cover. They did not make any attempt to contact me to reimburse me. I asked if in the future I would be able to pay a small initial payment and then pay whatever remains after insurance pays, but I was told I would have to pay it all upfront no matter the price. Luckily my cleaning was covered yesterday, however I will definitely hesitate before getting any work done here again. It is a lot out of pocket to have to pay full price and wait for a reimbursement, especially as I had yet to receive the refund until just yesterday. I was told my insurance information may have been incorrect in their system originally, so I would say if your bill seems too high, ask them to double check if they have your correct insurance plan.

My first visit today! Amazing staff! Dentist and assistant were absolutely fantastic and cared! Waiting area is cozy, warm and welcoming. Check out is nice as they actually explain to you what your paying and not and not at a check out window but in a sit down area . I hope my journey continues to be as wonderful as today’s experience was.

I had my first appointment here today and it was an absolutely incredible experience! I am terrified of the dentist and dare I say... I enjoyed myself! Everyone was so kind and walked me through every step of what was going to happen so I didn't feel nervous or left in the dark at all. I have to mention how cozy and cute the waiting area is too! I'd give them 15 stars if I could.

My experience with Contemporary Dentistry was exceptional! Dr. Ali and Ashland were professional and caring, and the rest of the staff was friendly and helpful. I would recommend them to anyone!
