I had an exceptional experience at Family Dentistry at SouthWood and felt compelled to share how impressed I was with the entire team. From the moment I walked in, the front desk staff was welcoming, organized, and made the check-in process smooth and stress-free. Tameriah and Antawan were both incredibly professional, attentive, and made me feel comfortable throughout my visit. Their positive attitudes and attention to detail really stood out and showed how much they care about their patients. My hygienist, Cameron, was absolutely amazing. Cameron was thorough, gentle, and took the time to explain everything clearly, which made the entire appointment feel relaxed and informative. It’s rare to find someone who is both highly skilled and genuinely compassionate in patient care, and Cameron exceeded my expectations in every way. Overall, the entire team truly blew me away with their professionalism, friendliness, and level of care. It’s clear that this office values patient experience and teamwork. I’m grateful to have found such an outstanding dental office and highly recommend Family Dentistry at SouthWood to anyone looking for top-quality dental care in Tallahassee.
I've been a patient here for a few years. There is a lot of staff turnover so I'm not sure what is going on with that. I gave a 5 ⭐ review in the past but my visit yesterday changed that. Miesha, my hygienist was great. She was personable, thorough and big on teaching. She gets a 5. The 2 ⭐ comes from the pressured sales pitch for Invisalign. I'm 62 and have never been told I need my teeth aligned by one single dentist over the years. It was like being at a car lot and having the extended warranty speech thrown at you or getting an oil change and suddenly they find 17 things "wrong" with your car. I will be looking for a new place to go that doesn't push unnecessary treatments . It was uncomfortable and I didn't like it one bit. Adding to the above review: I had to go back to the office today because a bridge that I had done there less than a year ago came off. The dentist that did the original work is no longer there. I saw Dr. Williams and she was fantastic as was her assistant. Unfortunately the bridge needed to be replaced which wasn't a real surprise because I had so much trouble with it from the start. Anyway, she offered to do a new bridge at a huge discount and frankly, I didn't really want to go back to the original Dr. that performed the work. The front office staff were nice and helpful. I plan on giving them another chance based on today's experience. I will just tell them from the start that I am not interested in Invisalign 😂 Today was a solid 4 ⭐
I recently visited this business for the first time on 2/5/26 and 2/6/26, that was enough for me to never return to Family Dentistry. My biggest takeaway: FOLLOW UP WITH YOUR INSURANCE COMPANY. I initially experienced excessive friendliness, but the tone noticeably changed once I asked for copies of my documents and receipts. What ultimately compelled me to write this review was discovering inconsistencies on my receipt. After reading similar reviews about their billing practices, I felt it was important to share my recent experience. Despite having insurance, my out-of-pocket costs were $228 on 2/5 and $81 on 2/6. On my second visit, I was asked to pay immediately upon arrival and while I was already laid back in the chair getting a filling, someone leaned over me and asked if I had paid. That was extremely unprofessional. There are many more details I could share, but I don't want to make this review too lengthy. I understand how difficult it can be to get a dental appointment as a new patient. If you’re an existing patient at Family Dentistry you may be swayed by the staff’s friendly demeanor. However, I strongly encourage you to: Follow up with your insurance company to verify costs. Request copies of all documents and receipts. Do not sign anything you are not comfortable signing, even if pressured. Please do your due diligence, this office’s paperwork is just as questionable as their character.
I too have had issues with billing like many of the reviews listed on here. I have called, left messages, and emailed multiple times and still no resolution or communication. I have two insurances that they accept and neither have been billed properly of over a year and half now. I still receive bills in the mail even though my portion was paid in full at the very beginning. I finally made the switch to a new dental practice and both emailed and faxed my "Authorization to Release Information" form on 12/2/25 and still no response. It is now 1/26/26 and I have had to call again. I was told by other dental offices that they have issues getting records from them as well and that I will just need to go in person and sit there until the bill gets sent to insurance properly and to get my records. It makes me sad because I was a client of theirs for several years and now get treated like this. The hygienists and dentists are great. The issue seems to be the billing, records, insurance handling, and back office staff. I hope they are able to fix these issues for others going forward, but I have lost confidence.
I came into this office today and had phenomenal service. Tameriah greeted me and was so nice helping me figure of my finances. Aya (hygienist) was gentle and kind and explained everything before we started. Dr. Rodriguez was also amazing and helped with my future appointments. The office is cheerful and There's great teamwork! I came on 3 weeks later to get my images for invisaling and for an extraction and it was a wonderful experience as well. Dr. Williams and her dental assistants Yannah and Jada are professional and friendly. I'm so happy they will make my dreams come true with the invisalign! Highly recommend!!! Thank you Jada, and Kaylee!!!!
