After spending more than $3,000 out of pocket, even with dental insurance, my experience with Coast Dental in Gainesville has been incredibly disappointing. I was scheduled for a procedure that I had already paid for, only to arrive and find out the dentist wasn’t there after telling me to come in on a different day. Later, they scheduled me for my final appointment to have my crown placed, but the day before the appointment they canceled because the crown wasn’t ready from the lab. Now I’ve been told that once the crown arrives, they still have to figure out when corporate will send another dentist to the office. Meanwhile, none of these cancellations, scheduling issues, or delays change the amount I’m expected to pay. I want to be clear that I’m not blaming the staff. They’re doing their jobs and have bills to pay just like everyone else. My frustration is with the way this office is being managed. I can only imagine how difficult it must be to work in an environment where patients are constantly inconvenienced because of circumstances beyond the staff’s control. I do not recommend Coast Dental in Gainesville based on my experience. I hope they improve their scheduling, communication, and patient care so others don’t have to go through the same frustration.

Worst dental office I’ve ever been to — and I’m in the dental profession. My first appointment was canceled without notice after I had already driven 30 minutes to the office. I gave them another chance. Before my second appointment, I uploaded my insurance information online and brought it with me again on the day of the visit. I have used this same insurance recently without issue. After sitting in the waiting room for TWO HOURS for a routine cleaning, I was told they could not verify my insurance and therefore could not see me. The office manager was unable to resolve the issue or offer a reasonable solution. What was most frustrating was the complete lack of communication. At no point during those two hours was I updated about the situation or given the option to reschedule. The office felt disorganized, several staff members were rude, and the office itself did not appear clean. After two separate negative experiences, I will not be returning.

Yes, this was my first and last time coming to coastal Dental. The young lady upfront did a wonderful job. She got me signed in. I set from 2 o’clock to maybe 5:50. I was given an electric toothbrush I guess for the week sending the Dental chair and he said he couldn’t do the procedure and I’m really nowhere that I had to sit there that long I wouldn’t recommend them to anyone. They Try to do a cleaning. Just got one about two weeks ago. I tried to explain what I was there for showed on the referral and I still had to sit the week unsatisfied customer.

One star because negative stars is not an option Seemed more like a scam. Avoid this clinic. I went in for a toothache and spent almost three hours there, from 9:30 to 12:30, without anyone actually treating the tooth that was hurting. Instead, they forced a bundle of services I did not ask for, charged me upfront, kept me waiting forever. From the start, the experience felt like a high-pressure sales operation rather than a dental visit. As a new patient, I was told I had to agree to a whole bundle of services I did not ask for, including a comprehensive exam, multiple x-rays, panoramic/3D imaging, and an oral cancer screening. When I questioned why all of that was necessary for a toothache visit, the front desk receptionist was rude and dismissive. Instead of explaining things respectfully, her response was essentially, “Are you the doctor?” That was the tone from the beginning. Especially for the oral cancer screening. I told them I have done that last year and don't need it. I just need my aching tooth addressed. I was told they are not allowed to take new patient without cancer screening, which is BS. Because I was in pain and did not want to leave without help, I reluctantly agreed and paid upfront, including more than $150 out of pocket. Requiring payment before I was even seen was already a red flag. What followed was worse. I waited an extremely long time for them to even call me. Then at 10:45 someone called me in and took a bunch of xrays and picturesm. Then I sat in the dental chair for almost an hour untill 11:40 with nobody coming in. Eventually a hygienist came in, did what they called an oral cancer screening, which appeared to be nothing more than a quick visual look, and then immediately shifted into pushing deep cleaning and extra products. The conversation was not centered on my tooth pain. It was centered on selling me treatment I had not come in for. When I finally got to “see the dentist,” he was not even there in person. He appeared by video call. A video call for a patient who came in with active tooth pain! He repeated the same sales pitch about cleaning and add-ons, but when I asked about the painful tooth, i was told I would need a separate appointment for that ! THAT WAS WHATVIBWAS THERE FOR IN THE FIRST PLACE!. So after nearly three hours, mandatory imaging, screening, and payment, the actual problem I came in for was still not addressed. Then they presented me with an estimate of over $4,300 for cleaning-related treatment, even with insurance. who on earth charges $4000+ for cleaning with insurance. Even if it's deep cleaning which i have done before and it was no where near that number. That, combined with the dramatic language and pressure tactics, made the entire visit feel deeply misleading and manipulative. The healthscare tactics used to shamelessly push for their treatments were so obvious to anyone with a basic medical understanding. They weren't even good at scamming. Long story short, I came in for a toothache and left with no diagnosis, no treatment, no medication, no relief, and a bill. The office itself also did not inspire confidence. The chairs and equipment looked worn, the space did not feel clean, and the overall environment added to the sense that this place was not operating with the professionalism or patient care standards it should. In my opinion, this clinic uses fear, pressure, and bundled services to push patients into unnecessary charges while ignoring the reason they came in. That was my experience, and I would strongly advise people to stay away, especially if you are in pain and need actual care instead of a sales pitch.

I didnt attend my 2pm routine cleaning appointment until 4pm, and did not actually finish until 5:45pm. I understand that today they were apparently short staffed, but I when I was finally called I was shuffled from room to room without actual service, just being moved. I was charged $35 for a "telemedicine" charge, in which I was forced to Teams call a dentist remotely who for maybe 2 minutes- who just told me the same information I already knew. Then they tried to charge me for two other services I did not get - panoramic x rays and flouride. 2 stars because front desk was kind, but this was unorganized and not considerate to patients.
