I just had a new patient appointment. The lady at the front desk was very friendly and helpful. My first red flag here was they made me pay before any service was done. I had some paperwork to do and they took me back fairly quick. They took xrays and the lady was new learning no issues we all start a new job and need to learn. I was taken to an exam room where I sat for close to an hour second red flag. The Hygentist came in and did the exam. Then I was set up with a Teams video call with the Dentist third red flag. The lady that helped me earlier came in and offered me a cleaning plan. I wanted a cleaning. Not their toothpaste or their treatment. I was told I would need to schedule a cleaning. Forth red flag. At this point I just wanted to get out. They charged me $150.00 for just an exam no cleaning on top of what my insurance paid. Needless to say I will be canceling my cleaning appointment and will not be going back. Everyone there was very nice, but their process is not very good or timely.
Do not use them. I just went to them as a new patient, put down I was there for a checkup and cleaning. Before I was seen they tried to bill me $74 for cancer screening that I did not ask for. I was told there office does that. I asked what does it do she said uses a light, wow $74 dollars for that. I said I would do this once. Then when I tried to pay cash she said they dont take cash. I left. Waste of my time. They better not bill me for this. Im also informing my insurance company.
I am not typically one to write reviews, but I am writing one for Coast Dental in the hopes that someone will actually contact me. My son and I had appointments on 12/22/25, and paid the expected out-of-pocket portion. Since then, I have received about 16 emails and numerous text messages informing me I have a balance. I called on 1/15 and left a message with the corporate office (as the local office did not answer). I called and left another message with corporate on 1/16. On 1/20, I left a message at the local office. On 1/21, I finally got a person and spoke with Megan. Megan emailed me my estimate from 12/22, but did not have a reason why the office would not return a call. I was advised to contact my insurance company, and I called them on 1/21. On 1/22 I responded to the email from Megan, with attached copies of my explanation of benefits and the math of what I believe I should actually be credited, rather than owing. I followed up on 1/26 with Megan via email, and she responded that it was being reviewed. I called the office again on 1/27 but couldn't reach anyone. I am deeply irritated. It was very easy to make an appointment; speaking to someone regarding a bill, however, feels impossible. If my calculations are incorrect, and I do in fact owe the office, I will gladly pay my bill, but I will not pay until I speak to someone, despite being inundated with emails and texts to pay an outstanding balance. I want to be clear: Megan sent the emails as she said she would, and I am not complaining about Megan; I am complaining about the overall experience with Coast Dental. I do not recommend Coast Dental & Orthodontics- Gainesville.
They kept my appointment to schedule. I was attended by the Dental team with a great greetings and the work done on me was done to my expectations, which were no pain and good work application done. This being my second visit was just as good as my first visit same quality GREAT! Keep up the good work.
If you can find another dentist, you should go there. To be specific the dentist himself is not the issue here, he was actually a nice guy. But this practice is not run appropriately. The billing makes absolutely no sense. I simply wanted a cleaning. Coast dental. Wanted to charge me about $800 for one cleaning. I’m not exaggerating this. When I first went about a month ago, I thought I was going in for just a cleaning, I made it clear that I only wanted to cleaning. After waiting three hours, I never got a cleaning. They took x-rays which they claim they were required by law to do (I think this is not true) and they did an exam, they charged me nearly $200 for this and they never did a cleaning. It took an additional month to schedule me for the cleaning, which was the only reason I went there in the first place. Over the past month I’ve asked the office multiple times how much the cleaning would cost. I called them, emailed them, and texted them. They never responded with the price. Today when I showed up for my cleaning, I was shocked to see they were gonna charge me $590 for a cleaning. I am not exaggerating This. $590 for a cleaning and only a cleaning. By the way, this is on top of Insurance. Granted my insurance is probably not very good. So I asked the woman at the counter how much it would be without insurance. She said over $800. She claimed the reason the price was so high is because it was for a deep cleaning. I told her I don’t want a deep cleaning. I just want a basic cleaning. She stated, by law they are legally not allowed to provide a basic cleaning if the dental hygienist recommends a deep cleaning. I looked this up later, and I could find no such law in the state of Florida that prevents dental offices from providing basic cleaning if the patient requests it instead of a deep cleaning. I believe they absolutely could have provided a basic cleaning but outright refused. I asked the receptionist multiple times to check with the dentist to see if I could get a basic cleaning instead. She refused to even check with him. She said it’s against the law. So I left because I was not going to pay $590 for a cleaning. Keep in mind I already paid $200 to Coast dental for this cleaning. The $590 is in addition to the 200. I’ve already paid. I feel the real reason they refused to provide the cheaper basic cleaning was because they knew I was already in for $200. Very unacceptable behavior!
