I’ve been taking my kids to this dental office for about 15 years, and while I’ve never had an issue with the doctors themselves, the front desk and billing staff have been consistently rude and unprofessional. Recently, I was told suddenly that I had an unpaid balance from last year, and they claimed it had been sent to collections!! But I never received any letters, emails, or calls about it. I always pay co-pays up front and have receipts, so this was really confusing especially that I’ve always paid hundreds to thousands of dollars on top of my kids insurance and never hesitated not to pay upfront. During the last call, the staff member spoke to me in a rude and dismissive way, which felt discriminatory. There was no effort to explain the charges clearly, and instead of helping they threatened to cancel my child’s appointment. I expect professionalism and clarity, especially when it comes to billing and sensitive financial matters. Based on this experience, I seriously considering moving my kids to another practice and will never go back to them.
We had such a great experience at Hendricks Dental Specialists today for my daughter Presley’s first orthodontic appointment for spacers with Dr. Robert. Dr. Robert made the entire visit feel easy and reassuring, and we really appreciated how smoothly everything was explained and handled. His orthodontic manager Peggy was also wonderful, so organized and helpful throughout the process. Grace at the front desk was kind and welcoming from the moment we walked in, which set such a great tone for the visit. A special shoutout to Sarah, the orthodontic assistant, who placed Presley’s spacers quickly and so efficiently. She was gentle, fast, and made the whole experience much less stressful than I expected. Also, a big thank you to the insurance team working behind the scenes. It doesn’t go unnoticed how much they do to keep everything running smoothly for families like ours. 😉 We’re really grateful for such a positive first ortho experience!
After being a part of this practice for 12+ years I have grown increasingly disappointed. I have had everything from fillings, extractions, three years of braces, expander, spacers, routine cleanings, etc. at this organization. I have appreciated the work that both the dentists and orthodontists have been able to do for me. However, on April 8th of this month, I scheduled an appointment for April 21st at 3:15. Given I am a full time college student as well as working full time hours most weeks, I have a pretty tight schedule. I try my best to be flexible but often times plan in advance in order to avoid having to be flexible. Only yesterday I received a message being asked if I could move my appointment time for today to an earlier time in which I did not confirm. I said that I could be there as soon as I could because I had class until 1 as well as a meeting with one of my Professors afterwards. Rather than understanding that, I received a message today at only 12:11 to tell me my appointment was now at 1:45. After getting out of class I called immediately to communicate that this was not doable for me. I was told my appointment got moved and that 3:15 was no longer available. The literal day of. The soonest they could accommodate me was 4:00 or to reschedule rather than restoring the previously committed upon time. This is very frustrating because I would not have bothered planning this if I knew that it was just going to "fall through" which is incredibly unprofessional. As someone with an immediate family member in dentistry, this reflects rather poorly. I have chosen to remove myself from the practice and will not be returning.
I thought they were good dentists until I went somewhere else and wow. They have cost my family and I thousands of dollars in unnecessary procedures. First and foremost, I saw them in December for a usual checkup and expressed concern over a tooth that my gum was receding on. I pulled my lip down and showed her, and she said I was fine and that maybe in the summer or in the future I should see a periodontist about having gum recession. Not even a month later, I was experiencing severe pain. I was unable to get a dentist appointment near my university in NC due to inclement weather and scheduling for another 2-3 months but was finally able to go. They told me my lower frenulum was pulling down the gum on a single tooth and that it had pulled it down enough that I would need a gum graft and that I should stop seeing my home dentist immediately because their inaction led to it getting bad enough I needed a $2k gum graft. Hendricks should have taken my concerns seriously in the first place especially given that I had a frenectomy done on my top gums in their very office which was exactly what I needed to keep from having gum recession on that singular tooth so my gum graft surgery was completely preventable. It was also a very obvious issue when I would pull my lip down and I showed them this and they were very dismissive. To make matters even worse, when I saw the other dentist they did X-rays on my teeth as I was due for them. Hendricks has been telling me for about a year and a half now that I have a small cavity that I need to have taken care of which I have kept pushing due to school and traveling which I did mention to the new dentist. They did the X-rays and came back very confused and said that their was absolutely no signs of any cavities which means they had been trying to get me to have an unnecessary procedure for an issue that didn't even exist for a year and a half. This is also extremely upsetting to hear as about two years ago they insisted I had three cavities and that I needed to get them all taken care of as soon as possible which I did, so now I am left wondering if these cavities even existed or if they made them up or exaggerated them to get me to have the procedure. All of this was extremely saddening and disappointing given that I am no professional and I deferred to their profession help and rather than help, it has only caused me more confusion and pain. I am just a 21 year old college student, and I really feel like they took advantage of that and I have paid the price for it.
We love love love Hendricks Dental on Westgate Circle in Coolsprings! Alexandra Hendricks is a fantastic pediatric dentist. She is patient and kind and soft with my daughter. We recently had to get a tooth pulled and it went so smoothly. She makes balloon animals for each patient and they have a huge, beautifully detailed fish tank in the middle of the waiting room for the kids to play around. It’s very relaxing and fun!
