Island Smiles

I normally do not write reviews, but I feel like people should know about the experience I had here. I had been coming here for years back when they were Island Dental, and my whole family did as well. Unfortunately, since they switched to Island Smiles with the new doctor, my experiences have been very disappointing. The first issue happened when I arrived for a scheduled appointment and was told it had been canceled because the doctor was not in that day. No one contacted me beforehand, which wasted my time and gas money. I tried to brush it off because things happen. At my next visit, I went in for fillings. The doctor numbed me and then left for about 20 minutes while the anesthetic took effect, which I understood and waited patiently for. However, after he began drilling and prepared the teeth for the fillings, he unexpectedly said he was “giving me a break” and left the room for around 45 minutes with my teeth exposed and open. I never asked for a break, and sitting there that long was extremely uncomfortable and felt very unprofessional. When he finally returned, he completed the fillings in less than 10 minutes. The entire appointment lasted over an hour and a half for three small fillings. Now, less than six months later, one of those fillings has completely fallen out, and I’m left dealing with pain and another dental issue that should not have happened this quickly. Based on my experience, it feels like they are scheduling too many patients at once and not giving proper attention to patient care. This place has gone downhill significantly, and I would highly advise people to look elsewhere for dental care.

Despite multiple follow-ups and even going in to fill out form in 2025 after switching dentists, they never provided medical records and this caused my wife to have to get new x-rays at another practice. We heard this happened with others too, as shown in Yelp reviews too.

I have been a patient of Dr Yeager's for at least eight years or more now. She is absolutely amazing! She is truly the best dentist I've ever had. Many years ago I had a terrifying experience with a hygienist on the mainland and since then have been very anxious about getting my teeth cleaned. Shelby is so gentle and caring, and I don't mind going in for a cleaning now at all. The entire staff at Island dental is extremely knowledgeable, helpful and super efficient. I highly recommend Island Dental!

I first went to see them for a deep cleaning. That was a really great experience because they made sure that I was comfortable the whole way. This last visit I just had was for a regular cleaning and my hygienist was so gentle and awesome! She said I had been doing a nice job keeping up with my dental hygiene. That’s because I was using the tools that they gave me when I left the first time. Not afraid of going to dental appointment so I say this to those that are: this is the place to go if you have any anxiety about procedures that have to be done to your mouth. I feel like the staff is super professional, and the facility is clean. I’m so glad that they took me on as a client.

Such caring and friendly staff! This was my first visit - so I had a new patient assessment (aka x-rays and dentist consultation) and a cleaning. The overall process was great - great communication before the appointment, easy parking, friendly staff and the care seems first rate. I highly recommended both Star (for cleaning) and Dr. Nunez as a dentist. He took time to explain everything and seems very caring.
