Smarter Orthodontics by Dr. Maria Yazji - Brickell

I went to Dr. Yazji’s office seeking Invisalign to get my smile back straight and beautiful. It’s easy to make appointments, reschedule if needed, and make adjustments to any teeth that you think need to be moved or angled or anything like that. Everyone at the office is extremely professional and nice. I live in walking distance, but they have valet parking at no cost if you need to drive. I’m definitely a perfectionist, but Dr. Yazji always listened and worked with me to get my smile exactly where I wanted it. Less than a year later, my smile is perfect and I couldn’t be happier. I would highly recommend Dr Yazji‘s office to anyone looking for an orthodontist in the Brickell area.

I recently completed my braces treatment, and I couldn’t be more grateful for the entire experience. From start to finish, the team was professional, patient, and truly caring. They guided me through every step of the process and always made sure I felt comfortable and informed. The results are amazing, and I am extremely satisfied with my new smile. We decided to discontinue my daughter’s orthodontic treatment at this office due to a very disappointing experience. From the beginning, the doctor’s communication style felt rude and dismissive. My daughter’s case is complex — her permanent canines have not descended — and the only option presented to us was to extract them and leave the baby teeth. When I asked about getting a second opinion before making such a major decision, the doctor became visibly upset and insisted extraction was the only solution. We were required to pay $250 out of pocket for a 3D scan, and were initially told we had to travel from Brickell to Weston to complete it. Eventually they allowed us to do it at another location, but they never provided us with a copy. I had to personally request it later and bring my own flash drive to obtain the file. After consulting with other orthodontists, I learned that a 3D scan is standard equipment in most offices and is typically included in the treatment process — not charged separately. We also paid for a follow-up visit that ultimately never took place, and we paid for a bite plate that was never delivered to us. They didn’t even suggested a refund for those things. After seeing an oral surgeon, we were advised that extracting the canines could put the four front teeth at risk and that surgery is not recommended until age 18. We sought additional orthodontic opinions and were offered alternative treatment options to guide the canines down without immediate surgery. It may take time, but it is possible. What stood out most is that in the other offices we visited, we were not charged for consultations or additional 3D imaging. Unfortunately, our experience here was marked by poor communication, unnecessary costs, and a lack of flexibility in exploring treatment options. For these reasons, we chose to continue care elsewhere.

I had a disappointing experience at this orthodontist office. For something as important as orthodontic care, patients deserve transparency, patience, and proper attention. Unfortunately, that was not my experience here. I hope the office improves the way they communicate with and support their patients.

My braces was taken out today it’s amazing how the after looks. I really recommend Dr Maria and her team are just wonderful people. Very friendly, respectful. Super happy with my teeth.
