TL;DR: Dr. Orbach gave me a super honest recommendation during my free consultation for clear aligners and saved me from needlessly spending $7k at Tend. Here’s the story. Basically my dentist at Tend during my regular cleaning last week said my teeth needed correction and recommended I do Invisalign with them—for context, they currently have a special of a $750 discount and a free waterpic etc. anyways! I was super surprised at my dentist’s recommendation bc I had braces and Invisalign in the past and though my teeth aren’t perfectly straight, they’re good enough they haven’t caused me any discomfort. But my dentist kept pressing that my teeth had issues. Also, they only do Invisalign comprehensive, not express or lite, which is $7k so they only have one method of treatment to offer. Plus their $750 discount offer is expiring in a few days, so the urgency I felt to make a decision was heavy. I’m not an expert and $7k is not a little investment, so I did some research on orthodontists in DC for a second opinion. Dr. Orbach was recommended consistently in web searches, Reddit, and ChatGPT. Something that was a green flag for me was that his office offers multiple clear retainer methods and other types of teeth correction. My thinking was that if he agreed that my teeth had issues that should be addressed, he would be able to recommend to me all appropriate options. I was able to get a consultation scheduled within a day. During my consultation today, he first asked what my concerns and goals were. I told him the issues my dentist pointed out and that I wanted a second opinion. He looked at the pictures his staff took of my teeth during their initial intake, he did some other checks on my jaw and bite that my dentist didn’t do, and said my teeth did not need any major orthodontic treatment or interventions as suggested by my dentist. This was such a relief. He walked me through his entire thought process in a very kind and honest way. He could also tell that I had ortho work before and he said whoever my ortho was before did a great job. He suggested that if I was interested in something, I could consider getting a night guard which is a sturdier retainer which is around $600, and it wasn’t urgent. A big difference from an immediate $7k spend. I feel like my dentist was gaslighting me about my teeth so they could make money, and that Dr. Orbach actually cared about me and my teeth over potential revenue. That’s how I know he has a good practice. I’m going to figure out when I have time to set up a night guard appointment with him. P.S. his staff are kind and professional.

The entire team took the time to make me feel comfortable and explained everything clearly throughout my visit. What really stood out to me was the personal touch. After my appointment, the office even sent me a get-well card, which was such a thoughtful gesture and shows how much they truly care about their patients. It's rare to find a healthcare team that combines excellent dental care with such kindness and compassion. I had braces treatment through Dr Orbach’s office to fix an underbite. Post treatment I consistently get comments on how perfect my teeth are; I was very happy with my wedding photos. During treatment Dr Orbach was responsive to any questions I had and was willing to give a quick checkup for any concerns. I highly recommend Orbach Orthodontics.
