I’m sharing this feedback because I hope it helps improve the experience for future first-time patients. As a new patient, I expected to leave with a better understanding of my dental health than when I arrived. Instead, I left feeling dismissed. The front office staff and dental assistant were welcoming and professional. The dental assistant explained the process and completed my panoramic X-rays. My experience changed when I met with the dentist. I came in specifically because of severe TMJ, teeth grinding, chipped teeth, and pain. After my X-rays were completed, the dentist never reviewed them with me or explained what they showed. She asked what my concerns were, and I explained that I was there because of grinding, TMJ, chipped teeth, and pain. The main recommendation was a custom night guard. That may be the right recommendation. My concern is that the conversation stopped there. When I asked about my chipped teeth, I was told not to worry about them right now. I said that I was worried about them. My front teeth matter to me because I can feel the chipped areas against my tongue. I then asked specifically about the chipped back tooth that has been causing pain. This was after the dentist had the panoramic X-rays and had already looked inside my mouth with a dental mirror. It was only after I pushed on that specific concern that she looked again and said the tooth had enamel damage and needed a crown. That was alarming. A painful chipped tooth went from not being part of the conversation to needing a crown only after I insisted it be addressed. I also asked whether Invisalign could be discussed alongside the night guard process. Since a mold would be taken for the night guard, I wanted to understand whether anything could happen in parallel or whether the same mold could be used. I was asking because I do not know the process and was looking for guidance. Instead, I was told not to think about Invisalign right now. What surprised me most was how quickly the visit moved from a limited conversation to cost. There was no walkthrough of my X-rays. There was no explanation of the findings. There was no discussion of treatment priorities. The next conversation was with the front desk about an approximately $1,839 treatment plan and financing options. If I need a night guard and a crown, I want to know that. I came in seeking expert guidance. What I needed was education and partnership. Instead, I left without understanding what was found, why the recommendations were being made, or what my overall treatment plan should be.

My experience here was fantastic. Their waiting room is so cozy, and the front desk person was so friendly. My hygienist, shaman was knowledgeable and gave me pointers to help with problematic spots on my teeth.

Shabnam was amazing. A very good hygienist. Tu was so calm and patient with me as well. Abby nicely spoke to me as I gave good feedback on her staff. I typically hate coming to the dentist but I’m so happy I gave them a try. They don’t push out your appointments you’re able to get a lot done in one setting. The are top notch from the moment you walk in until the minute you leave. Amazing job all!

DO NOT GO TO THIS PRACTICE!!!! PLEASE AVOID!!!!! 1. They do an excessive amount of x-rays. I’m not the most concerned about it, but it was around 12 pictures easily. 2. They said that I had no cavities without doing a cleaning. After getting a second opinion, I did. 3. They said that my teeth needed a deep clean. After having a second opinion from another dentist, they said that was inappropriate and unnecessary 4. The deep clean charge was going to be a minimum of 450$ out of pocket. They refused to clean my teeth at all unless the claim was approved. We tried to get the claim approved. It was rejected. I wound up going somewhere else! 5. I received a bill for 450$ on 2/20/2026 for a visit that occurred on 1/20/2025. They sent the bill at 5:07 pm, so that I wouldn’t be able to call them shortly after receiving the bill. The funny thing is that I only went to this office in 2/2023. 6. I just got off the phone with my insurance company, and there was a record of only one appointment with this practice from 2/2023. The EOB says not only were they paid, but that I owed nothing. 7. Honestly, it’s just lazy bc they should have my medical records and should be able to verify what I received and I didn’t receive. I am so glad that I saved that email thread going back and forth over coverage. It also has the front desk person explaining that it has to be a deep clean. TLDR; don’t go to this practice despite the convenient location because of their shady billing practices

Excellent in every regard. Dr. Vahid is hands down the best in D.C. I had a fairly serious infection that required extraction and grafting, and I didn’t even feel the tooth come out—I was on my way home before I knew it. I was also amazed by how easy the recovery was: little to no pain and absolutely no swelling. The entire staff was kind, extremely helpful, and completely transparent about payment and insurance. I hope you never need the kind of work I did, but if you do, Beautiful Smiles is the place to go.
