Legendary Orthodontics – Sacramento

Dr. Hoybjerg is the most unprofessional healthcare provider I’ve ever encountered. I understand that Invisalign appointments are often short, but not THAT short. Every appointment felt rushed. I should have timed them because most of my visits seemed to be over in two or three minutes. What bothered me most was that I never felt I was treated like a person. Dr. Hoybjerg never sat down during my appointments and always seemed eager to get in and out as quickly as possible. The only time he would sit down was removing attachments. Every doctor or dentist I’ve seen before has taken the time to sit down and speak with me. Having to constantly look up and speak up to a provider creates distance and makes patients feel unheard. I also question the quality of the charting and communication between Dr. Hoybjerg and Dr. Amy. There were some occasions when recommendations made during one appointment were never mentioned again. For example, near the end of my treatment, Dr. Hoybjerg told me he would perform enamel reduction to help address the black triangles between my teeth. When I returned for what I believed would be that procedure, it was never done and no explanation was offered. Some people might ask why I didn’t bring it up myself. Well, when a doctor treats you like a number and seems like they just want to get out of the room in 2 minutes, that doesn’t leave much room to ask questions. I understand you probably have a lot of patients to see. But it’s also your private practice, which means you have control over how many patients you see. Nobody is forcing you to see an overwhelming number of patients every day. If patient care is suffering because appointments are being rushed, then maybe stop accepting new patients for a while. Maybe hire more orthodontists. There are ways to fix the problem instead of making patients feel like they’re on an assembly line. There were also times when Dr. Amy suggested a possible approach to address a concern, but it never got mentioned at my next appointment with Dr. Hoybjerg. It often felt as though they were not reviewing each other’s notes. My experience with the staff and assistants was also disappointing. They consistently came across as cold, impatient, and uninterested in helping patients. Asking questions often made me feel like I was dumb. When the leadership does not appear to prioritize patient care, it is not surprising to see them behave this way. I realize this review will probably receive a robotic response, and Dr. Hoybjerg may never see it. But I still wanted to share my experience for anyone considering treatment here.

Dr. Hoybjerg and his team have provided orthodontic care for three of our children, and we couldn’t be happier with the experience and the results. Throughout the process, communication was excellent, which gave us confidence that our kids were in great hands. All three of our children started with crowded teeth, and the transformations have been great. The smiles Dr. Hoybjerg and his team created will benefit our children for the rest of their lives. Our kids are happy, my wife and I are happy, and we highly recommend Dr. Hoybjerg and his team to anyone looking for exceptional orthodontic care.
