I want to share my experience so others can make an informed decision before choosing this place for braces. From the very beginning, I felt rushed into signing the treatment contract. Once the paperwork was done, the level of care and attention changed immediately. When I got my braces put on at the Tulare office, an orthodontic assistant scratched the roof of my mouth during the procedure. It was extremely painful, and it should not have happened in a professional setting. On another visit in Tulare, a different assistant broke the bracket on my back molar and didn’t replace it. I was told, “the back teeth do not move.” That tooth is still uneven compared to the rest even after finishing treatment. Later I transferred to the Fresno office on Shaw, and the problems continued. I made it very clear that I wanted one specific tooth brought down more before the end of treatment. It was something that genuinely mattered to me, and I was paying for results I expected to be satisfied with. They never corrected it. When they told me I was “ready” to get the braces removed, I explained that I was not ready because the tooth I had pointed out still wasn’t fixed. They kept the braces on for one more appointment, but did not adjust anything at all — the braces were simply left on longer without doing the work. At the next visit, when I said again that I was not happy with the tooth, the doctor told me, “Your treatment plan is already done and there’s nothing we can do unless you pay for more visits.” I had asked for the correction long before the treatment was supposedly finished, so that answer felt very unfair. The retainer process was another problem. They struggled to get the impression right, and when I finally received the retainer, it was cheap and flimsy. The retainers they provide are not made to last long, which means someone would have to pay for a new one fairly quickly. Mine cracked after only three months, even though I was very gentle with it. Based on my experience at both locations, I would not recommend Unique Orthodontics for braces — not in Tulare and not in Fresno on Shaw. For something this expensive and important, I expected much better care than what I received.
