Ocean Dental

I moved from out of state to NE Iowa 2 years ago. Finding there are no resources at all available within 2-3 hours drive. We chose Ocean Dental. 3 hours away. Had to find an office who also sees kids over 10years old(weird Iowa thing). This is the worst experience with a pediatric dental office. I have a 20,15 & 5 year old. I'm experienced. Don't need my oldest seen here. Terrible customer service if you can get anyone on the line and not a bot or bot voicemail that won't call you back for months on end. No full-time hygienist... Months booked out and rescheduled 2 separate times due to this. Their issue. Then pushes your appointment to the back of the line. Very unorganized. Very unprofessional. One of my children requires dental care to prevent infection but doesn't make any difference to them without major push back. I call my other office in my home state and it was such a joy and pleasant experience. They are seeing my kids in 2 weeks. I'm driving 5 hours for proper care, but not waiting 3 months for Ocean Dental to have a hygienist available that will probably reschedule a week or days in advance. Do better Ocean Dental and Iowa dental care. You do it because you can. This is sad for the medicaid families and the needs of those children. If there were a zero option or negative option after 2 years of this. I would choose that. This is not normal.

Impossible to get ahold of the front desk to reschedule an appoitment

I have had good experiences with 2 people in this clinic and my children have been going here for about 8 years now. Unfortunately, almost every time we come here I feel very dismissed and not heard. I almost feel like I have to rush to speak before I am cut off or like I am bothering them. I would like a conversation before hand about what my autistic son will need and I worry about him while he's back there without me. It's a krappy feeling seeing as how bad teeth run in our family and this is an issue that causes me a ton of worry every day.

The staff at the front desk are disrespectful and rude. I felt discriminated against by the staff and doctors. I went for wisdom tooth removal and they kept ignoring me when I told the nurse and the doctor I could feel the pain. It was painful because I had all 4 removed and I felt every pull. I had to hold the table I was laying on. The doctor said stop moving the while nurse give me a nasty look. All I could do was cry. I couldn’t have my parents there due to their policy. I was uncomfortable with everything. Don’t ever take your kids here.

Called the front desk and the person told methey don’t take patients over the age of 10 in a very rude tone. Even though there is a lack of mention of that detail and half the reviews here beg to differ. Not sure if I was lied to or if the policy has changed recently. Either way was treated very rudely on the phone making me out to be the bad guy for not knowing.
