Pritchett Orthodontics: John Pritchett, DDS

We just finished our orthodontic journey with Pritchett Orthodontics today, and I truly can’t say enough good things. My daughter got her braces on at just 10 years old, and from day one today, the day they came off, the entire experience has been amazing. The staff is always welcoming, kind, and incredibly patient, every single one of them. Every appointment was organized, efficient, and positive. They took the time to explain everything clearly, and we always felt confident and cared for. Watching my daughter’s smile transform over the years has been such a gift, and today seeing her braces come off was such a special moment. Her smile is absolutely beautiful, and we are so grateful for the care and expertise of the entire team. If you’re looking for an orthodontist who truly cares about their patients and makes the whole process smooth and enjoyable, I highly recommend Pritchett Orthodontics. We are beyond thankful!

This was a terrible experience. Dr Pritchett is not here for your teeth, but for your money. I spent 6 years in braces and after 4 I realized I was not getting the care I needed. I asked to have a meeting with Dr Pritchett and it was very clear he did not care what I had to say. He SHAVED down my teeth multiple times. On my last appointment I was finally satisfied enough to get my braces taken off. I hadn’t seen him for months due to his unprofessionalism and instead would be seen by Cora or Brookie. They were so nice and after so long, finally had my teeth looking amazing!! At my last appointment one week before getting my braces off he came to check my teeth and again SHAVED a large gap in between my teeth in the front a week before getting my braces off. My gums were bleeding and there was now a large gap in my teeth. and I asked him why he did that since I was satisfied. He replied with “well you won’t get them off until you’re satisfied” and then walked away. I decided I still wanted my braces off and would take my business elsewhere after 6 long years. (It just wasn’t worth it anymore) I believe this man just wants money money money and making sure his hair looks good instead of actually having good service. Please if you go anywhere for braces DO NOT GO HERE!!!

I've only had one experience with this office and it certainly was not positive. I booked a $10 consultation for orthodontic work with the goal of some sort of jaw surgery because I have a slightly recessed jaw that I hate. I waited 45 mintues, was finally called back and taken to Dr. Pritchett's office. He was sitting in his chair at his desk, looking at his computer, and did not even say hello. So I'm sitting in the evaluation chair and he isn't speaking and I"m just sitting there waiting for him to do whatever it is he's doing, when finally his assistant comes and looks at my teeth. She does her exam while he is still on his computer, tells me what she thinks, and finally he walks over. HE HAS STILL NOT SAID HELLO. The only comment he made was about my IU sweatshirt because clearly he's a diehard IU guy. Essentially he just refers me to an oral surgeon (duh, thanks), and is like "well, come back to us after you've been evaluated by them," which is dumb because 9/10 times you also work with an ortho!! As a separate issue, that office is a mess too, but they asked for x-rays that Dr. Pritchett's office did not take at the eval, so I had to ask my regular dentist to send what they had. I then waited two months, just to not hear back from the surgery place, only to call them and have them tell me they are booking out for NEXT JANUARY (it's currently April). Horrible refferal system, strange and kinda rude guy, weird office, weird vibes.

I have been a patient of Pritchett Orthodontics for 20 years. I have a tight bite, and my top retainer has been a consistent issue for the last 15 years. It's never been a problem to replace the glue and put it back in place, but the last time I was there the hygienist made a big deal out of it. They recommended I pay for a Hollywood retainer, even though I still had my original clear ones. Needless to say, it made my bite even tighter and there was no possible way to reglue the permanent retainer without me hitting it. I scheduled out an appointment for the new placement and specifically set it with a hygienist I had seen for years and is patient and kind. When I arrive, they gave me someone new I had never seen, even though the appointment was scheduled a couple of weeks out so I could specifically have the hygienist that knew my history and could resolve the issue. The hygienist that assisted me made multiple rude comments, intentionally was taking her time removing the water, spraying me with the air, etc. I've never had this occur and I could tell it was intentional because she was outwardly getting angry that I was hitting the glue no matter the placement. Then Dr. John comes in (after she had a private word with him) and also seems to have an attitude, stating, "your bite changed, you just may not get a top retainer." My bite changed because your staff recommended a Hollywood retainer that further tightened my bite! I have never had such crude bedside manner at any physician's office I've been a patient of. Not only am I out the money for the unnecessary retainer, but I have to have the permanent retainer removed (which has been loose since placement when the glue kept hitting my bite) and see a new orthodontist. I waited to write this only after visiting my dentist, getting her opinion, and seeing the orthodontist she recommended; both confirmed this could have been handled differently. My smile is pretty and they are great about getting your teeth where they need to be, but this occurrence has made me not want to go back. I understand I have a unique issue, but it's been handled appropriately for years prior to this instance. I haven't called the office because I was afraid of having to talk to the woman who was rude to me. I was extremely uncomfortable leaving that day. I was made to feel like I did something wrong. I do want to reiterate that it was the hygienist I had that day who was disrespectful. The office staff and other employees have always been extremely kind and helpful.

I was recently at this location in the lobby waiting on my friend to get done with her appointment. I overheard two office employees discussing a phone call with a patients parent that one of them had just taken. One of the employees(I think maybe Brooke was her name) stated that she was going to call the mother of the patient to tell her about the phone call and went on to express her opinion regarding the fathers role in the child’s life which I found to be extremely inappropriate and out of line. The entire interaction was one of the most unprofessional conversations I’ve heard between two coworkers and if I was the father on the other end of that phone call I would be pulling my child from this practice immediately.
